Geng Li

Geng Li is a PhD-candidate at the Department of Human Biology (NUTRIM School of Nutrition and Translational Research in Metabolism) at Maastricht University. Supervised by Ruth Meex and Gijs Goossens, his PhD project focuses on the impact of hypoxia on liver function and crosstalk with adipose tissue and skeletal muscle. Specifically, Geng Li will investigate the effects of hypoxia on hepatic lipid and glucose metabolism in lean and steatotic hepatocytes, assess the effects of hypoxia on the expression/secretion of hepatokines in lean and steatotic hepatocytes, and explore subsequent effects on adipocyte/myotube function.

In 2022, he obtained his MSc degree in Microbiology from Shandong University, China.
